The Cobra King Tour MiM irons are a cavity back set with a tungsten weight in the toe which increases the forgiveness. The tungsten weight also gives the club head a low centre of gravity for an increased launch angle at impact. The Tour MiM set is not made like a traditionally cast set or like a forged set. The MiM technology stands for Metal Injection Moulding and involves grinding the steel down to a powder and mixing it with wax. The mixture is heated under high pressure in a mould, so the wax melts and the steel is bonded together. This process creates microscopic holes in the steel which dampen vibrations and give a soft feel at impact. Behind the face is a thermoplastic polyurethane plate (TPU) which gives reduced vibrations and optimal acoustics at impact.
Thermoplastic polyurethane plate, is a plate that is located directly behind the face. This plate is built to absorb the vibrations at impact to increase the soft feel. It also adds acoustic properties.
Tungsten weighting, By placing a tungsten weight in the toe of every club, the blade is kept stable through impact resulting in consistent ball flight. This also pulls the centre of gravity in the club head down closer to the ground which gives the trajectory a higher launch angle.
Metal Injection Moulding technology, The steel has been ground down to a powder and mixed with wax. The mixture is then placed under extremely high pressure and heat in a mould where the wax melts and the steel is bound together. This process produces lots of microscopic holes in the steel. The structure of this mixture provides vibration-dampening properties and a soft feel at impact.
