Choosing the right grip thickness

Finding the right grip size can actually help you shape your shots. While grip preference is highly individual, there are some guidelines to keep in mind based on your glove size.

Think of it this way:

Table with glove sizes and corresponding grip sizes: women’s small/medium and large = Lady/Undersize, men’s small/medium = Standard, men’s medium/large = Midsize, men’s XL = Jumbo.

Thin grip – advantages: With a slightly thinner grip, it may be easier to rotate the lower hand in the swing to prevent a slice. However, if the grip is too thin, it's easy to over-rotate and instead hit a hook/pull.

Thick grip – advantages: A thicker grip allows your wrists to maintain a more stable position throughout the swing – useful if you have hook problems or tend to hit shots to the left (as a right-handed player). Many also find that a thicker grip is more comfortable to play with than a thinner one.
